Community Safety Officer
Council is exploring the possibility of introducing a Community Safety Officer (CSO) program to help address local safety concerns and support bylaw enforcement, traffic safety, and community education. At a recent council meeting, Randy Jesse presented information about the provincial program and its potential benefits. A CSO could provide an additional community safety presence while working alongside the RCMP, helping address certain local concerns and support crime prevention initiatives.
Council is also exploring the possibility of partnering with neighbouring communities to share resources and costs. No decision has been made at this time, as Council wants to gather more information, explore partnership opportunities, and consider community input before determining whether the program would be a good fit for Grand Coulee. The attached documents describe the CSO program in greater detail. If you would like to provide input regarding the possibility of Grand Coulee engaging in a CSO program please send an email to grandcoulee.cap@sasktel.net with your thoughts, questions or suggestions. Please bear in mind that the costs of such an endeavor are unknown at this time as we remain in a very early exploration phase. If this initiative were to gain further traction, cost estimates would become public and further feedback would be sought.
